Please note that this review of Hospedaje Central is not from our first trip to Ometepe back in 2014, and so prices etc are no longer correct, and significant changes are likely to have happened.
Our opinions may also be out of date.
For help on picking your perfect accommodation, head on over to our post ‘Where to Stay in Ometepe’ which was created following our return to the island last year.
Vibe
Veteran of the Ometepe hostel scene, Hospedaje Central attracts a variety of travellers. The colourful motifs that adorn the walls, large social area and on-site bar/restaurant make for a fun and social place to call home.
Location
10 minute walk from the ferry terminal, a couple of minutes walk from the main street in Moyogalpa.
Best thing
Hospedaje Central is home to the best bar in Moyogalpa – an excellent place to chill out after a long day sightseeing and share a beer (or several!).
Also, three excellent ginger cats call this place home - each with their own personalities (they WILL expect food of your plate).
Worst thing
Some of the rooms need an upgrade to justify the price.
Value for money
Fair. They could afford to reduce their rates by a couple of dollars given the lack of cooking facilities and that the rooms aren't the greatest, but we have paid more for less elsewhere on our travels.
$16 per night, double with private bathroom, 14th-24th October 2014
Recommended for
For those looking to use Moyogalpa as a base, this is one of the best options in town.
Top tip
Try one of the massive fresh fruit smoothies from the restaurant – the largest, and most liberal fruit portions we've had on this trip.
Amenities
Wi-fi, 24-hour security, lockers, social area, hammocks, pets, A multitude of languages spoken.
