Hotel La Paz, Coban | Hostel Review

Please be aware that this review of Hotel La Paz is not from a recent trip, and so prices etc are no longer correct, and significant changes are likely to have happened.

Our opinions may well be out of date, but we do note that this accommodation is still recommended as a secure, decent and economical place to stay by travellers who have visited recently.

Vibe | A décor and architecture resembling mid-20th century British sea-side hotels, La Paz is a charming and secure locally run hotel.

Location | A 10-minute walk from the main bus station, a little longer from the main Lanquin departure point, it is very central whilst being out of earshot of the traffic.

Best thing | With a shuttered and gated facade, and a porter to control who exits/enters the building, it is tremendously secure.

Worst thing | There is no wi-fi available. The hotel also has plenty of empty space rooms, so it would be great if they could open one of these up to serve as a common area.

Value for money | Fantastic. Hot private showers, comfortable beds, security and a large, clean room for less than 100 GTQ.

Private double w/bathroom, $73 GTQ /night, May 11th - May 14th 2014

Recommended For | This is not a hostel, so do not expect to share your beers and travelling tales with the ubiquitous backpacker soundtrack. It is however great for anyone with a few days in Coban and looking for a comfortable and cheap room.

Amenities | Hot showers, 24hr concierge, parking.

Rating | 7.5
